Your garden can be a saviour when it comes to zero waste handmade Christmas decorations. Not only are they free it saves you time waiting for deliveries as well as helping the environment.
Here are a few ideas for your Christmas decorations foraged from your garden or responsibly gathered from the countryside.
Pine Cones
A favourite for getting the kids crafting and involved with the festive period. Pine cones can be used in numerous ways including making baubles for the tree. Having guests around in the garden, use them to decorate the garden furniture, add them to a wreath or pile them into bowls with some fairy lights for added sparkle.
Holly
The iconic festive plant with its crisp green leaves and stunning red berries. Holly is very much a traditional Christmas decoration. It can be used to add interest to wreaths or garlands by simply reducing the length of the branch. The berries look really effective, cluster some sprigs together and use in a vase or pot.
Twigs ( Can you believe it!)
Yes that is right the humble twig can also be used for your Christmas decorations. Often twigs are used to make wreaths, there are many tutorials which can help to guide you through the process. A simple and free addition for your home, the wreath can then be burnt on a new years fire or added to the compost. Add twigs to the standard jam jar with natural twine and pop some fairy light inside for an effective Christmas table addition.
