How To Maintain Your Fire Pit

Fire pits can be made from various materials. Maintenance can vary depending on what it is made from. Here are a few tips how to keep your fire pit looking it's best:

Storage

Outdoor elements such as rain, snow, ice and sun rays all take a toll on fire pits over time. Protecting the fire pit using a cover or a fire pit lid offers great protection when not in use for long periods of time. If you have space store the fire pit inside or under a covered area to preserve the lifespan of the fire pit.

A great tip is too not use water to put out the fire as the sudden drop in temperature can cause the metal or masonry to crack.

Remove ash & debris

After using the fire pit remove all ash and debris. Ash can be acidic and destructive to both metal and masonry. Wood burning fire pits need little maintenance but still remove the ashes after use when completely safe to do so.

Cleaning the grill

Fire pits are often used for outdoor entertaining which means cooking on a grill over the open fire. Maintain the grill by cleaning with hot soapy water and a wire brush if needed. If you come to use your fire pit and discover the grill is no longer useable you can find replacement grills which can be purchased at affordable prices in many sizes.
