Platinum Jubilee Garden Party Inspiration

As you probably know, this year marks 70 years since Queen Elizabeth II was crowned. The jubilee weekend is the 2nd - 5th June 2022 and therefore means a four day bank holiday weekend.

The sun is set to be shining in the UK over the Jubilee weekend (hopefully the British weather will not let us down!). The extra bank holiday days will mean that many people will be enjoying more time together outdoors in the set to be sunny weather. Garden or street parties will be in full swing celebrating with friends, family & neighbours.

If you are thinking of inviting people over to your garden over the Jubilee weekend it doesn't need to be a chore to achieve a right royal theme.

After all what better way to celebrate the Queens reign than a British royal garden party?

Bold British Bunting

Add colour into your garden theme with a bold patriotic themed bunting. It is an inexpensive way to give your garden a facelift. Add bunting to fence panels to really add a party atmosphere. Paper bunting & simple signage can really add a personal touch allowing you to add your own personal stamp.

Garden Tea Party

A British tradition is to host a garden tea party with tables laden with sandwiches, scones, cakes and drinks. Savoury snacks like mini quiches, sausage rolls and crisps are always a favourite. Bake some cakes and do a drinks station so that guests can help themselves. Use jubilee paper cups, plates and table decoration to add to the theme.

Create a comfortable seating area

Seating is important especially when inviting a number of guests to a garden celebration. Be sure to use seating wisely especially in smaller garden spaces. Snug garden areas are great to get people talking in a comfortable environment. A fire pit is great to use as a barbecue to feed guests hot food and then use as a fire in the snug area to gather around in the late summer evening. A fire pit creates a social hub in an outdoor area which allows people to connect and chat by the open fire. Blankets, cushions & any soft furnishings are a great idea to create the ultimate cosy atmosphere as the night goes on.

Entertainment

Keeping children entertained at a garden party can be quite a challenge. Set up a arts and crafts area related to the Jubilee e.g. make paper crowns, colour in the corgi etc. Play music that everyone enjoys, include a real mix of songs to adhere to everyone's tastes.

We hope you enjoy the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and that these few tips inspire you to make the most of your garden party.
